1 Tool You Should Be Using Right Now on IG

INSTAGRAM'S COLLABORATION TOOL, FINALLY, there's a tool on the 'gram to make collaborations official. Have you checked this out yet?

If you’ve been around here for a long time you know that I built my first company and now my second largely upon the foundation of one strategy: PARTNERSHIPS.

At @bumpclubandbeyond partnerships came in the form of joint events, giveaways, interviews on our website and social media, product round-ups, guest speakers, and more.

Here on @lindsaypinchuk and over on @dearfoundher, partnerships come in the form of shared content and education, interviews, female-founded profiles, and giveaways.

But the one thing you can’t forget is that partnerships give you something that you can always use here: CONTENT. And now, Instagram has a feature that allows you to officially collaborate with your partners here…sharing posts that will be shown in your feed AND theirs.

What is an instagram collaboration?

In the past this meant that you simply partnered with another account for something: A live, a giveaway, a takeover, etc.

But now with Instagram's collaboration tool, you can make it official.

When you collaborate with another brand, you invite them to join you and your content (Reel, post, carousel, etc.) shows up in

BOTH of your feeds and gets shared to BOTH of your communities.

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Click the + sign to create a new post or Reel.

  2. Once you've uploaded the content, click on “Tag people.”

  3. Click on “Invite collaborator.”

  4. Search for the account and click on their profile.

  5. Once they accept it, it will show up in both of your feeds.

Collaboration Content Ideas:

Here are a few ideas that work really well for collaboration posts:

  • Podcast interviews/guesting

  • Co-branded giveaways

  • A how-to or educational piece you create with another account.

  • Behind the scenes.

  • An introduction of each other's brands.

Best Practices

  • Decide on the type of collaboration with the partnering account.

  • Decide who is doing the hosting and inviting.

  • Select a date.

  • Make sure everyone is on the same page.

  • Accept the invite for the collaboration in a timely manner.
